First off, I wanna say that this is hands down, the best offroad simulation out. Yes, there are many things wrong with it, and many things right. This game has a LOT of potential but it needs some work. I'd like to say that I'm not much of a modder...yet, but i will be. I'm currently in college for game and simulation design and have a passion for this kind of stuff. With that said, I'd like to share some things that I am currently doing to the game to make it a little better. (its nothing much yet, but its a work in progress) I hope to release a little beta by tomorrow. This mod is going to be released for Motorm4x Offroad Extreme. Here is a list to be done, it goes quickly, so If anyone has any suggestions you can simply put forth an idea.
1 Suspension lifts for all vehicles. Instead of a 4 inch lift it will be 5 or 6. Lets face it, sometimes you really need a little more height to the vehicle.
2 Torque. All vehicle upgrades for the top of the line performance will get more horsepower, and a little more torque. In my driving experience 20 thousand dollars under the hood should start snapping parts, so the torque will be increased a little, along with HP.
3 Some changes in the gearbox, shifting times, etc.
4 Still trying to find where the sound files are located, one thing this game desperately needs is some better audio for the trucks. If i happen to find it, it will be modded. I think the white F150 truck, (forgot ign) along with others, should sound a little less like a dirt devil.
5 ideas?
Also, If anyone knows where the audio files are for vehicles, and the corresponding "tweak" for it, let me know. I'd be glad to replace them with something a little better. |

Sounds good to me If you manage to create a good mod, I'll make
some space on our web for download section _________________ Martin Benes

Figuare9's MT4MX Mod v1.0 (Status: Released)
Okay, its finished. First off don't expect much. I didn't change very many things due to lack of time, but perhaps if the community here gets larger, I may have a little more motivation to really work on things and maybe get a team together, etc.
Every vehicle has had a suspension lift. Its not much of a lift, but due to the games mechanics I cannot exceed the current height without sacrificing handling/stability of the vehicle. Suspension values in the game are not listed as inches, but rather numbers. For instance for the 3 suspension heights in the game it would be 35, 40, 45. The numbers here are listed in order chronologically with the height of the suspension in game. IE: 45=4 inch lift kit. Most vehicles were changed from 45 to 50. Although some vehicles were set to 55 already, so i changed them to 58, 59, or 60.
Every vehicle that had the suspension lifted, also had the roll torque increased. This is an attempt to keep the vehicle from tipping over at higher speeds, but keep in mind that this is a realistic offroad game, and that you simply can't turn all the way in one direction at 40-50 MPH and expect not to roll over. Come on! lol
All the vehicles torque has been increased. This should help in tight situations where you need a little extra power in low gear.
That's all. Nothing much, but the amount of work it was to find the file I needed to mod was INCREDIBLE! The game has files that are encoded, and you can't simply click on a file and start modding. After weaving through HUNDREDS of files, I finally (days later) found the file i needed to edit. You have to decode the file, edit, re-encode it, and repack it. This game does not make modding easy, but it is possible.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MOD IS ONLY FOR THE 4" LIFT KITS, AND THE TOP OF THE LINE PERFORMANCE PARTS. IF YOU SELECT ANY OTHER LIFT KITS OR ANY OTHER PERFORMANCE PARTS IT WILL NOT SHOW UP (EXCLUDING THE NOMAD VEHICLE) I LIFTED THE NOMAD VEHICLE AS WELL, BUT SINCE IT DOESN'T ALLOW A 4" LIFT, I MADE THE SECOND LIFT HIGHER.
I created an installer for people to use to make things easier, However I also uploaded the manual install as well.
To install: (Installer)
1: Download the installer Here... http://rapidshare.com/files/230686194/Figuare9_s_mod_V1.0.msi
2: Run the installer, and when it asks where to install make sure to navigate to the media directory of the game installation. For example C:\Program Files (x86)\City Interactive\MOTORM4X Offroad Extreme\media
3: Finish the installer, and play the game.
To install: (manual install)
1: Download the table.dtf here... http://rapidshare.com/files/230686197/table.dtf
2: Navigate to the media directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\City Interactive\MOTORM4X Offroad Extreme\media) and replace the table.dtf with the existing one.
IF YOU DONT BACK UP THE TABLE.DTF YOU WILL NEED TO REINSTALL THE GAME IF YOU WANT TO UNINSTALL THE MOD.
Last but not least enjoy!

| It's up to you, If you want to put it up I wont mind at all. It's only had one download, have you thought about advertising? maybe you could get a little banner up on xfire or something. or on a popular website. Not many people probably know about this game, maybe get the word out. Also, i was hoping you could PM me with some information on other things to edit. maybe where the models of the vehicles are, some sounds, etc. |

There's a conflict between us and the publisher. They are not interested
in selling the game - and I don't think they ever were. Don't ask me why.
So, there's no point in doing advertisement on our own - we have no
funds and olny problems with the gmae. You're right, nobody knows about
it.
About the information, you can try and give me a list of things you need,
and I'll ask our programmer. I'm not sure if I can help you with that... _________________ Martin Benes

Double post.. Bite me I'll be posting a changelog to the mod here shortly. I'm still waiting back from the devs to help me out here a little bit for some more content locations, but hopefully something comes up. I've been working on version 1.01 and its going pretty well so far. I'll create a new topic about it in the very near future. Also don't forget guys that if u do want something, or have ideas, im open for suggestions |

Make that 601...I just found it and now I got to wait 2 mins because I'm cheap and won't buy a premium membership to rapidshare.
Ok got it d/led....I post my thoughts a bit later.
Have you done any other mods?
Do you know how to add the Scorpio to the garage so it can be bought?
Thanks
Just tested your mod and it's not bad....found a lot more speed in low range which isn't always a good thing. Trees don't move out of the way.
Able to climb up steep grades in 2nd gear instead of first now and vehicle doesn't bottom out as much.
Might have to turn off assist so it doesn't take all the challenge out of the game. |
